1980/V Porsche 911 SC Targa 3.0 Presented in Silver Metallic with Black Full Leather Upholstery

- Extensive Restoration Work (£30k) Completed 5k miles ago
- Glass-out Respay
- Engine Rebuild
- Gearbox Rebuild
- Targa Roof Refinished

Restored at considerable cost, with a glass out respray, as well as an extensive mechanical restoration. Fitted with a rubber whale tail spoiler, front rubber lip spoiler and fuchs alloys, it has real presence.

The bodywork was treated to a full glass-out respray in the original Silver Metallic, and new rubber seals and trims fitted, including the all-important Targa roof seals. The roof itself has been refurbished with a new lining. The rear lights and all the bumper rubber bellows have been replaced, too, to ensure that the car looks really fresh.

Mechanically, the engine has been fully rebuilt with uprated Mahle pistons and barrels at a cost of £10,000. The engine has also been treated to a full stainless steel exhaust system and heat exchangers with new pipework, new HT leads and distributor cap, new warm-up regulator, accumulator and fuel pump. The fuel tank is also new. The higher compression pistons and more efficient exhaust have boosted the engine’s output to well over 200bhp.

The five speed 915 gearbox has been rebuilt, its linkage overhauled and a new clutch added. There are new brake calipers, discs and pads all round. The heater motor has been replaced and the heater controls refurbished. Other new parts include the door mirror motors, the window regulator and the wiper motor.

The black leather interior has been refreshed and new mats fitted. There’s also fresh carpet in the luggage compartment, and new sound deadening in the engine bay. A modern Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 head unit combines modern DAB and Bluetooth technology with retro looks. There’s also a modern remote locking and alarm system.

The Porsche has been driven 5000 miles since the restoration was completed, so it’s a perfect car for someone looking for a hassle-free classic 911 which has had pretty much everything restored.

In 1980, Porsche introduced their latest development of the 911, christened the 911 SC, with the 'SC' standing for Super Carrera. Powered by a 3-litre, six-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injection and a 5-speed 915 manual transmission, power output initially was 180bhp, subsequently 188bhp and finally, in 1981, it was increased to a heady 204bhp.
