A wonderful example of the legendary Jaguar E-Type, the Fixed Head Coupe represents the purest form of the model. Very genuine example having enjoyed the loving care of just a few long term owners from new.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirms a build date of 19th March 1965 and a dispatch date from the factory of 6th April 1965. This fabulous E Type is an original matching numbers UK example finished in its original colour combination of Opalescent Golden Sand with contrasting red leather interior.

Originally distributed by Henlys of London to R.P Powell Motors Ltd in Forest Gate who duly sold the car to its first owner, a Mr D.S. Davis of Ilford, Essex, on 13th April 1965.

Service and parts invoices would indicate that this E Type was well maintained and kept on the road at a time when many examples were allowed to decay.

Often called the most beautiful production car of all time, the E-Type remains an automotive icon of design, engineering and speed

When introduced at the 1961 Geneva Salon, Jaguar’s E-Type stirred passions with its extremely sleek and timeless design backed by staggering performance. The newcomer’s design owed much to that of the racing D-Type. Indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor.

The Jaguar E-Type is not only one of motoring's all-time greats but also a car that almost every red blooded male would covet. This has led to the Series 1 E-type becoming ever more sought after and has given rise to fabulous recreations and spectacular restorations that are without doubt a higher standard than when the car was first produced. More than 70,000 E-Types were sold during its lifespan; around 60,000 of these were left hand drive mainly destined for the USA. When the Series 1 was introduced it was initially for export only with the domestic market launch coming four months later. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburettor, 3.8 litre, six cylinder XK engine and non-synchromesh gearbox from the XK150S plus some very pretty but upright and uncompromising seats.

The Series One 4.2 model is one of the most sought-after models with the combination of the beautiful early E-Type external features with the more user friendly all syncromesh gearbox, superior Lockheed brake servo and of course larger, torquier 4.2 engine offering much improved drivability and power. The electrical and cooling systems were vastly improved, and the interior boasted more support and comfort for both driver and passenger with updated seats making longer distance touring more comfortable.
